Things to do at home when you can't get out!
I am someone who always likes to step out of the house, go out for a drink, explore new food places or just go and chill at a cafe. Staying at home for a long time makes me go crazy!
It was not easy when the Coronavirus wave hit Massachusetts and everything was shut, and I had to stay home.. NOOOOOO ๐ญ
During the first few days of my "self quarantine" , I was very happy that I won't have to go to work, I can get up late and Netflix all day long! (Along with my work )
But that changed very quickly when I started to realize that staying at home is harder than I thought.
I started thinking of some other fun things I can do, other than binge watching shows!
So here's what I have been up to for the past week -
1) Get started on those DIY projects ๐
I love doing DIY projects and I spend hours looking at videos on how to do DIY face masks or DIY make up hacks!Every morning I decided to try out a new DIY face mask to test out which one works the best for my skin type. So far, the best mask that suits my skin and makes me feel fresh, is turmeric and honey mask. Go try it out!!
2) Bake, bake, bake! ๐ฅฎ
Are there people out in the world who don't like cakes ? I don't think so!
Why not take up some time and put on that chef's hat ?
Baking a cake might seem very hard, especially for people who've never yet tried it.
But there are super easy recipes out there, which will help you make an AMAZING cake.
I baked this New York Style Cheesecake and it was so so so creamy and delicious (I may or may not have finished it in one go ๐)

3) Channel your inner Diva ๐ธ
Okay, I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE being clicked. It just makes me feel happy and confident. I like to dress up, put on some make up and throw that sass.
I understand this might not be for everyone (especially if you are anything like my fiancรฉ who absolutely HATES clicking pictures and also HATES getting clicked) , but it might be something fun to do and you'll feel good about yourself when you feel exhausted or low!
4) Replicate restaurant style recipes! ๐ฅช
Missing your favorite meal from a restaurant ? Why not try to make it yourself ? There are many YouTube videos on how to make these lip smacking restaurant style dishes at home.
My fiancรฉ and I made a Subway style (Subway is a great restaurant chain, okay?) smoked turkey sandwich at home, and it was BOMB!
5) Join the pieces ๐งฉ
We had bought a 1000 piece puzzle back in August 2019, but never got around to opening it! This seemed like the perfect time to open it up and get going at it!
We started 2 days back and we are NOWHERE near done - but building a puzzle is so much fun (takes me back to my childhood days - when I used to enjoy doing puzzles and also when my back didn't pain after 2.3 seconds of sitting on the floor ๐)
6) The war is on ๐ฒ
I am a nerd when it comes to Board Games and I get SO competitive that almost every game ends up with me shouting at other people (not good, I know!)
Board games are a fun way to get together with your family and friends and have fun with a home cooked meal.
Back when I was younger, we used to have family nights when we would play cards (How I wish I could go back in time ๐ฃ)
Anywayyyy, my favorite Board Games include Catan, Code Names, Clue, Monopoly deal and UNO.
Although the last two technically are not "Board Games", it is fun to defeat everyone and emerge victorious!

7) Read a book ๐
With all of us being on our Laptops and Phones for most of the day, our eyes need a refreshment. What can be better than reading a book and sipping your favorite beverage?
I was an avid reader a few years ago, but I just lost touch and stopped reading books altogether! I'm guilty of not reading and resorting to watching my favorite show or just listening to podcasts!
But a few weeks ago, I actually started reading and I could not believe how much I had missed it!
8) Good things come to those who sweat ๐ช
I was devastated when I got to know that my gym had shut down! I am someone who needs motivation and a trainer to push me harder to work out and get sh*t done.
I wasn't a very active person up until 3 months ago, when I decided I needed to stay fit if not lose weight. Since then, I started going to the gym regularly and totally LOVED working out (I miss you OTF ๐ข)
Because I had gotten into a regular habit of working out, I wasn't going to give up. I started working out at home with some basic exercises to begin with, and then climbed up the ladder by increasing the counts daily. Of course, I still lacked that personal motivation, but the SWEAT app helped me with it and made my at home workouts so much more fun!

9) Get that Zen mode on ๐
Exercising and keeping yourself fit is important, no doubt. But keeping your mind and body relaxed helps you focus on things better.
Meditating not only teaches you to stay calm but also helps you tone down the anxiety that you might have.
I'm going to be honest here, I am the worst when it comes to meditation. I just CANNOT keep my eyes closed and meditate without getting any thoughts in my head.
I have started with 5 minutes of meditation, and I'm up to 10 minutes now - let's see if I can become a pro-meditator! (Is that a word?)
P.S : I don't know any good videos or people to follow for meditation. I would love to hear any suggestions from you guys through Instagram or Email.
10) Treat yo self! ๐✨
Last, but not the least, just like Tom and Donna from Parks and Recreation, Treat Yo Self!
Draw yourself an amazing bath. Use that bath bomb you've been contemplating to use forever.

We work hard and need to unwind every once in a while ๐
